The Down Syndrome Service at the Center for Disabilities and Development works with individuals from birth to the age of 35 who have Down syndrome or closely related syndromes. This service assists the individual and the family with:

coordinating services
participating in community life
making transitions between service agencies and programs

An interdisciplinary team works with each child; the child and family are important members of this team. The goals of the team are to:

Carefully assess the individual's psychological, social, health, and education needs
To address any special concerns of the individual or family
To develop a care plan
To coordinate other consultations or examinations (for example, in cardiology or ophthalmology)
To provide detailed information to the family and to other caregivers, including local care providers

This program also has a commitment to providing ongoing education to professionals who provide care for children with Down syndrome.
